| Just Around (and on!) the Corner: Make Music, New York! |
 |
|
The first annual Make Music New York is
coming next Thursday!
On the first day of summer, June 21st, public spaces
in all five
boroughs will become informal music stages for all
New Yorkers, amateurs and professionals, to perform
for friends, neighbors, and passers-by, turning the city
into a festival of live music making.
Just imagine: professional opera
singers, high
school rock bands, church choirs,
underground MCs, Tuvan throat
singers, salsa bands, punk rockers,
string quartets, and circuit-bending
experimentalists will all be performing
in streets, parks, plazas, and gardens throughout the
city.

| Dancers: Subsidized Office Space |
 |
|
Dance New Amsterdam's Subsidized
Administrative
Space (SAS) program was created for
dancers and choreographers who have been
unable to find affordable administrative rental space
in the current New York City real estate
market. The SAS program provides up-and-coming
choreographers, as well as established
choreographers and companies, dedicated
administrative office space at a
subsidized rental rate of $250/month.
In addition, resident companies receive professional
guidance based on an initial assessment of the
company's unique challenges, goals and objectives.

| Our Mission...and Easy Ways You Can Help |
 |
|
The mission of NYC Performing Arts Spaces is to
help resolve performing artists' needs for music,
dance and theatre rehearsal
and performance space in New York
City.
Here's how you can help us achieve our
goals:
|
| Music Grants: "American Masterpieces" |
 |
|
Through "American Masterpieces," the National
Endowment for the Arts (NEA) will sponsor grants for
chamber music performances in conjunction with
residencies that will highlight repertoire by American
composers and enable ensembles to engage with
communities in a variety of settings.
The Arts Endowment plans to support a range of
projects that reflect the breadth of chamber music,
defined for the purposes of this initiative, as music for
traditional ensembles such as string quartets and
trios, as well as compositions for mixed ensembles,
traditional and indigenous instruments, and
jazz.
Projects may be initiated by eligible
organizations of all sizes, genres, and aesthetics
such as ensembles, presenters, festivals, and
colleges and universities. The Arts Endowment is
particularly interested in projects that have at least one
performance and two residency activities.
